Greetings from Tony Boyd!

I have been an avid bicycle tourist for most of my life - one of my earliest memories is of a very hilly tour of Scotland and the English Lake District on a single speed bike during a freezing cold school Easter vacation!

During sabbatical breaks from my life as a teacher, I undertook several extended solo bicycle tours in various parts of the world before returning to my native Northern Ireland in 1997 to found Iron Donkey Bicycle Touring. The company, which fully occupied my life for the next 20 plus years - specialised in guided and self-guided bicycle tours in Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales - and, working with

local partners, expanded into Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland and Austria.

During this time I amassed a wealth of knowledge and expertise in devising routes and building these into bike tour itineraries - information about terrain, roads, accommodations, sites of interest in many regions. I sold the business in 2018 and semi-retired, continuing in the role of adviser and tour leader.

I decided to launch Wandering.Bike as more of a hobby than a business, as I thought it a shame to not utilise the huge amount of expertise and experience that I had gathered over the years.
